Chemotherapy

Providing advanced chemotherapy treatments for a range of conditions.

At Riverview Animal Health Centre, we specialize in providing advanced chemotherapy treatments for a range of conditions, including but not limited to, lymphoma, osteosarcoma, necrotizing encephalitis, histiocytic sarcoma, and transitional cell carcinoma.

Our experienced team employs a variety of chemotherapy drugs that can kill cancer cells. With six (6) Registered Veterinary Technicians trained in the safe administration of these agents and a cadre of knowledgeable veterinarians overseeing the treatment process, we ensure the highest standard of care for our patients.

In more complex cases, our team has seamless access to an oncologist, providing valuable expertise and support.

What are the common side effects of chemotherapy?

Chemotherapy side effects in dogs and cats are not as evident as in humans. If side effects do occur, you may notice decreased appetite, vomiting and diarrhea. Hair loss does not usually occur in dog and cat patients.

How is chemotherapy given to my pet?

Chemotherapy is given to our patients via IV catheter. Your pet will have IV fluids placed, and will stay on them for a few hours after the chemotherapy medication is given.

What is the cost of chemotherapy?

If your pet is in need of chemotherapy, we can set up an appointment with the veterinarian to discuss the best chemotherapy protocol for your pet’s condition. Please contact us for more information.
